How do you tell your boss that he looks like Santa Claus, and that you want to paint his portrait? In the end, my compulsion to create the painting was greater than my fear of offending him. You can tell by the look on his face that he was rather amused by my proposal.
As for the title of the painting, that was given to me by my friend Herman Wrede, who is the subject of another painting on this site…
This was one of my very last “day” jobs. Somehow that seems fitting.
